Why yes, I have! It's called "Timshel," and is a historical fantasy gay romance novel.
...?
What? Oh, don't look at me like that. Queer people have the right to have romances, too, and romance novels are the ironclad backbone of the publishing industry, though you sure won't hear many people in the publishing industry admit to that. But screw them, I write what I want to read and I'm not going to apologize for what I want to read. Nor should anyone else.
Okay, fine. So you've written a gay romance novel. What's it about?
It's about Eiland, the youngest, sheltered son of a village healer, and Charon, a wandering victim of the Curse. The Curse is a terrible disease that causes what we would call seizures and lesions; unlike other illnesses, though, this one isn't so much transmitted as it is given. Those who are Cursed can give it to other people with three simple words: I Curse you.
The Cursed are shunned by society, yet they wield a kind of twisted power. The threat of the Curse is terrible enough that villagers go to great lengths to appease these wandering outcasts.
So when one stolen kiss draws Charon's attention, Eiland has no choice but to go with him.
I like to think of it as a gay version of Ladyhawke, without the heroics and with more of a hostage situation.
O-kay. Does anyone want to read it?
Apparently. I've sold the book to Etopia Press!
Huh. So what happens now?
Now we start the great editing process. The head of Etopia is currently setting up the release schedule for 2012, so I'm not sure yet how frantic the editing will be. I also need to fill out the Cover And Marketing Form (CAM Form) that will give the marketing side of the company a template to work off of; it asks me for my thoughts on a tagline and a back cover blurb, plus links to all of my online journals and such. *waves*
And you're, what, going to blog your way through the process?

Apparently.
